Maybe if you used a highly focused air release valve, but otherwise I would reccomend 75-100PSI. Besides, most refillable air cannisters for PC usage use a 100PSI charge. It's just 30PSI is not really going to do much but leave a lot of dust still in there. Leave some space for trapped air to move to so that you dont overdo it. To remove that worry, burst your air releases and dont shove the nozzle right in front of the fan. And about the only thing to worry about at that pressure is over spinning the fan motors if you are blowing off fans. 125PSI just doesnt do much of a better job then 100PSI so it isnt really worth going any higher. I typically use between 80 and 100PSI to remove dust on my components (Craftsman Professional series compressor/tank). ![]() Second of all, 30PSI? That is hardly anything worth using to remove dust off dusty computer components. If possible use a water filter on your lines to remove any condensation in the line so it doesnt end up on your computer. Your risk is more likely due to condensation (water). Most store bought compressors nowadays though are maintenance free oilless systems, and therefore dont have the oil problem in question. ![]() It isnt usually much at all so the risk is fairly minimal. store.įirst of all, it is possible for oil to be in the tank or compressor on oil lubricated based compressors. If you're serious about this idea though, you'll be surprised at how cheaply you can buy low end air tools at a local auto parts/wal-mart/home supply/etc. I'm saying that this idea is not too bad, but without heavy mods to your compressor (risking breaking it all together) in order to build up more pressure, you should probably either get a real compressor and an air gun or buy more canned air. The issue here is two fold:ġ) You may not have one, in that case it will cost way more than canned air.Ģ) If you do have one, they normally have connectors to adapt easily to high pressure air lines with the clip ends, not the type of air compressor that you are talking about. What would work is if you have access to an auto shop or other pnuematic tools, most people will have a little air gun. You will need some way to build up pressure though. I wouldn't worry about oil as much as water from condensation or just about any other miniscule risk factor-that's a not issue in my mind as even if you did spray a tiny amount of oil into your case it would still have to short something to cause any problems.
